Sarah Cupova posted a 17-point, 15-rebound double-double and blocked two shots to lead the Lady Eagles to a 43-32 victory over Council on Saturday.
Makayla Harless tallied 15 rebounds and Trista Snow had eight boards to go with six points for Rye Cove, which led 28-14 at halftime.
Brooke Tiller’s 10 points paced Council on the offensive end. Alli Austin piled up 16 rebounds with Abby Stevens collecting seven.
PATRICK HENRY 48, TWIN SPRINGS 30
NICKELSVILLE — Breanna Yarber pitched in 23 points and Patrick Henry held Twin Springs to seven second-half points.
Natalie Strait had a 12-point night for the Lady Rebels, hitting three 3-pointers.
Erin Larkin had 13 points and Emaleigh Powers nine — both players converting three treys — for the Lady Titans.
Free throws were a major key to the outcome with Patrick Henry going 14-for-18 and Twin Springs missing all four of its attempts.
ABINGDON 68, TENNESSEE HIGH 43
BRISTOL, Tenn. — With Peyton Carter striking for six 3s and finishing with 25 points, Abingdon rolled past Tennessee High.
Emily Breeding added 11 points and Sarah Walters chipped in nine for the Lady Falcons, who led 23-13 after the opening quarter.
Tennessee High’s Annie Hayes put together a 15-point game on five 3s. Kenzie Nickels accumulated 10 rebounds and Tori Ryan coupled seven boards with three steals.
RYE COVE 63, COUNCIL 42
CLINCHPORT — A 17-point, 10-rebound double-double by Ethan Chavez anchored the Eagles’ nondistrict home win.
Rye Cove’s Mason Hardin was good for 14 points — nine off 3-pointers — and five steals. Zach Baker hit five of his nine shots from the field in a 12-point outing and Matthew Rhoton contributed 11 points and five assists to the winning cause.
Up 28-21 at halftime, Rye Cove iced the win with an 18-9 third quarter.
EASTSIDE 68, WESTSIDE, W.VA. 54
COEBURN — Converting six 3-pointers, Ethan Powers also went 10-for-10 from the foul line in a 28-point outburst for the Spartans.
Powers led his team in rebounds as well, grabbing nine.
Garrett Whited was a key Eastside figure with 11 points and five assists. Ditto for Connor Blevins (9 points, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Eli McCoy (8 points, 8 rebounds).
The Spartans essentially won the game over the first two quarters, building a 37-22 lead.
