BURLINGTON, N.C. — A run in each of the last three frames put the Kingsport Mets  over the top 4-1 in Wednesday night’s road contest against the Burlington Royals.

The K-Mets had a stellar day from the pitching staff as Roman Guzman (1-0) went five innings, gave up two hits and struck out seven batters. He earned his first win of the season.

The Mets (6-3) got triples from Kennie Taylor, Scott Ota and Matt O’Neill.

That trio along with Wilfred Astudillo and Tanner Murphy all had two hits on the night, and Murphy also accounted for one RBI.

Burlington (5-4) had just four hits on the evening and the only run was a two-out solo home run in the seventh inning by designated hitter David Hollie.

Kingsport had 11 hits on the evening, but was just 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine stranded.

Reyson Santos recorded his second save of the season for the Mets.

Malcolm Van Buren (0-1) took the loss for the Royals. He pitched five innings, giving up one run on seven hits. He struck out four.

The Mets and Royals will both have an off day on Thursday before returning to action on Friday. Kingsport will be at Johnson City, while the Royals will travel to Bluefield.
