Forgety pitched the last four innings to earn the win, retiring six batters against no walks. Collins walked one.
The Chiefs collected 10 hits with Carter Morelock going 3-for-3. Forgety had two hits, and Hayden Long and Japheth Curtsinger had three and two RBIs, respectively.
After jumping ahead 1-0 in the first, the Chiefs produced seven runs in the third to take an 8-0 lead. Cherokee ended the game with its two-run fifth.

ELIZABETHTON — Braydon Wilhoit struck out seven in firing a three-hit shutout for the Golden Raiders.
Tyler Depriest went 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot and Casey Hartnell scored two runs. Chandler Raleigh drove in two runs.
Jacob Absher had two hits and a stolen base for the Warriors. Eli Reece struck out nine and gave up three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
David Crockett 12, Sullivan East 4
JONESBOROUGH -— Cade Larkins was 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs for the Pioneers, and Cody Wheeler went yard.
Grady Cash went 1-for-2 with a two-RBI single for Crockett. Sean Hayes was the winning pitcher.
Tanner Leffew went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for the Patriots.
Daniel Boone 9, University High 1
JOHNSON CITY — Cade Elliott had four hits and drove in four runs to lead the Trailblazers over the Bucs.
Colby Backus finished with three hits and Brody Goodman had two hits and a walk as Boone ended with 13 hits overall.
Hunter Adams picked up the win, throwing seven strikeouts over four innings. Goodman came in for two innings of relief.

BAILEYTON — Brody Cloud had two hits to lead the Falcons in the second game of a doubleheader. Bobby Montgomery knocked in a run in 7-2 loss in the first game.
Ridgeview 9, John Battle 3
CLINTWOOD — Ridgeview’s Carissa Mullins recorded two hits and three RBIs and the Lady Wolfpack handed the Lady Trojans their first Mountain 7 District loss of the season.
Ridgeview’s Bailey Frazier, Lauren Rasnick and Shae Sutherland had two hits each, and Sutherland picked up two RBIs.
Ridgeview’s Nikole Counts earned the win in the circle after tossing a complete game.
J.I. Burton 21, Castlewood 7
NORTON — The Lady Raiders had 21 hits to match their 21 runs, making easy work of the Lady Blue Devils in the Cumberland District game.
J.I. Burton’s Sareena Sergent was the most efficient, going 4-of-4 with five RBIs. Maggie Williams and Baylee Jenkins had three hits and two RBIs apiece, and Akyssa Hollinger (two hits, three RBIs) and MacKenzie Franklin (two hits, three RBIs) also contributed at the plate. Sarah Mullins finished with a home run and two RBIs for Burton.
For Castlewood, Janakay Kiser went 2-of-3 with a homer.
Twin Springs 12, Sullivan North 5
KINGSPORT — The Lady Titans worked the plate for 12 hits against the Lady Golden Raiders.
Twins Springs’ Lexi Austin, Chenoa Dean and Lauren Duncan had two hits each. Bailey Compton finished with two RBIs.
Pitcher Aubrey Powers took the win after striking out six batters during her two innings of work. Powers finished with two hits and one run against her.
Sullivan North’s Alexis Lipoma went 2-of-4 with an RBI.
Union County 5, Sullivan South 0
KINGSPORT — The Lady Rebels could not muster any runs on the night in a nonconference loss against Union County. Allison Chapman was the only South player to record multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with two singles.
South left nine runners on base.

JOHNSON CITY — The Lady Falcons had their bats going in the road win.
Alli Chandler was 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, Aliyah Crawley was 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBIs and Audrey Evans went 2-for-4 with two singles and three RBIs.
Volunteer totaled 15 hits.
Avery Kibelbrack singled twice to lead University High.
Sullivan East 11, Tennessee High 5
BRISTOL, Tenn. — Chelsea Sams hit a three-run home run — her 18th shot of the season — to lead the Lady Patriots to the win. She finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs.
Katelyn Loudy was 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Kylee Wolfe pitched a complete game and aided her cause by going 2-for-4 with a double. Cayden Bawgus was 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
McKenzie Orfield was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Lady Vikings. Tori Ryan and Grayson Phipps also finished 2-for-4.
Science Hill 1, David Crockett 0
JOHNSON CITY — Sejal Neas and Kara Weems locked horns in a pitching duel, and Science Hill’s Neas was one run better.
Neas fired a one-hitter and the Lady Hilltoppers pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning on Makenzie Smith’s walk-off squeeze bunt. The 1-0 victory came against David Crockett in a Big Seven Conference softball game at Metro-Kiwanis Park.
The victory secured at least second place in the Big 7 Conference for Science Hill (26-8, 9-2) Crockett (22-13, 7-5) will finish third.
Neas walked two and struck out seven. Weems allowed just three hits with three walks and seven Ks.
Jefferson County 7, Daniel Boone 5
GRAY — Nickolette Ferguson and Megan Ackerman gave up a combined 11 hits in the loss.
Erica Lewanski had the biggest day at the dish for Jefferson County, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs.
Jaycie Jenkins went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs for Boone.
Dobyns-Bennett 2, Sevier County 0
KINGSPORT — The Indians took seven shots on goal and slipped two of them past the Smoky Bears.
D-B’s Will Arrowood connected on a free kick off an assist from Jack Perry in the 15th minute for a 1-0 edge. Sam Garcia connected for the final goal off an assist from Spencer Correll at the 57-minute mark.
Keeper Jacob Park manned the goal for Indians and had one save.
