KINGSPORT – When you think about Bays Mountain Park, you’re probably not thinking about what the park has on its website. You may not even know it has a website.

Well, it does and it has for a quite a while actually. In fact, the park just recently launched a completely redesigned website, one with a cleaner look, improved functionality and enhanced content focused on the park’s mission.

“The new site is very user-friendly and captures the true essence of the park in its design,” said Park Manager Rob Cole. “We believe that this new site will allow our visitors to have a very informative experience as we continue to grow and increase opportunities at the park.”

- A rolling ticker across the top with updates and notices about the park.

- Links to the history of the park, hiking and biking maps, programs, fees and more.

- Bold pictures of the animals in the habitats and information on the planetarium shows.

- A section dedicated to schools, how to arrange a visit to the park and the cost.

Designed and created by The Net360, the website (www.baysmountain.com) offers several additional functions that will help visitors when planning their trip to the park, including three separate calendars on the website. Each calendar will have its own theme, one for the planetarium, and another for daily nature programming and the third for special events.

The new website will be updated on a regular basis with news of special events, daily programs and park information. Visitors are encouraged to explore the website and sign up for the Bays Mountain e-newsletter as well.

“We had the old site for almost six years and it presented a fresh face for the park at a time when a lot of visitors were just beginning to rely more and more on their mobile devices and computers for information,” Cole said. “We just hit a point where we wanted to improve our look, make it less wordy and easier for folks to use.”

It’s not unusual for organizations and businesses to update their website every three to five years, Cole said. An update freshens your look and makes sure the site is always easy to use for visitors.
