The judging of the contest was conducted in May and the exhibition ran through June 26. This year’s judges were Erik Allen, Paul Pope, Jim Rigsby, Jack Sofield and Jeffrey Sturgill. They spent all day looking at and judging 460 photographs taken by 93 photographers. Of those 93 photographers, 58 were new to the event. Judges give each photograph a numerical score; after all the photographs from that level and category have been judged, the winners are announced.
“I don’t envy the judges at all. They have a very hard job of judging these beautiful photographs,” organizer Ann Fortney said.
