KTG will stage “Yes and No” by Kenneth Home this Saturday as a fundraiser. KTG Executive Director Tina Radtke said this was the first show ever performed by the guild in 1947.
“The show itself is hilarious,” Radtke said. “The cast is very diverse, from 16 years old to 50-something, and come from Kingsport, Abingdon, Virginia, and even Spain.”
The show will be performed one day only on Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. It will take place on the KTG Mainstage at the Kingsport Renaissance Center Theatre, located at 1200 E. Center St.
A reception will be held at 5 p.m. between shows and will include hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a silent auction featuring items from more than 30 donors.
There will also be a short ceremony honoring the original 1947 cast members and the first actors of KTG: Dan Anderson, Emma Straley, “Hezzy” Osborne, Elizabeth Hagemeyer, Ben Sargent, Margaret Throp and Margaret Wimberly.
“I’m very excited about this show because this is what started it all,” Radtke said. “I’m also excited to recognize the first seven KTG actors and to recognize them for paving the way.”
