The county could balance its expenditures and revenues with a $53.85 million budget instead of the $56.71 million budget plan the supervisors adopted in May for a June public hearing. The USDA Forest Service will increase fees at several recreation sites in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests beginning this year, including two in Scott and Wise counties. The fee increases for 2019 range between $2 and $4, though additional fee increases will go into effect in 2020 or 2021.
