Hawkins County is under a federal mandate to make all county facilities Americans with Disabilities Act complaint by 2023. It’s an expensive process, and projects are being completed individually as funding becomes available.
Director of Schools Evelyn Rafalowski says no for multiple reasons, but Board of Education member Mark Ireson maintains it is a major looming issue, one that could take available funding from the new county high school.
