Four years ago, researchers called snacking a major culprit in the childhood obesity problem. We can't do anything with our kids, it seems, without giving them a snack. Even learning multiplication tables earned a snack at my daughter's school this year.

Gate City kicking off weekly concert series

The Kickin' Back at King Alley series is set to get under way Saturday night on a stage located at the intersection of Jackson and Kane streets. The remaining performances will take place every Friday night — excluding the July 4 weekend — until Aug. 22.
