Daisy Wells ("Granny") was born Sept. 15, 1914, the fifth of seven children born to William and Ava Wells. In her lifetime, she was a writer, a missionary and a friend. However, the greatest of all these was that she was a servant.

Jack Hughes was so determined to become a Navy officer that he had to find a creative way to pack on a little extra (albeit temporary) weight. It worked ~ and he officially enlisted in June of 1944.
