Ditch foils man's flight from police

Dispatch was alerted to a male and female fighting beneath a tree on Lynn Garden Drive. Upon police arrival and questioning, the man took off running across the on ramp to Stone Drive, forcing motorists to stop as an officer gave chase with a Taser.

An inquisitive caller asked dispatchers, "What is considered legal with drugs?" She then elaborated that lots of "oils" are for sale on the Internet, and was curious "if anything could be mixed with them to make, like, bath salts or stuff?"

Police were called to Holston Valley Medical Center after staff observed two young children "crawling around in the hallway....eating food out of the floor." Upon arrival an officer located their mother "passed out" in a chair.

Police were called to a disturbance in Kingsport, where a man claimed his father "had been drinking and was trying to argue." An officer reported that as he spoke with the complainant on the porch, the suspect "busted out the front door and attacked me."

A Bloomingdale man told police that he called a woman to respond to his residence and pick up her laundry. When she didn't arrive in a "timely fashion," he threw her clothes away in an outside dumpster.

A stop was conducted on a Honda Accord, as the car's lack of a muffler was creating excessive noise. Upon approach the driver quickly changed seats with a front seat passenger, with the officer then detecting a strong scent of marijuana.

A Shipley Ferry Road caller told dispatch that his girlfriend was breaking things, then armed herself with two irons to try and strike him. Shortly thereafter, a woman could be heard in the background of the call: "He has pot in the house."

As a detective in an unmarked car traveled west on Main Street, an SUV in front of him "abruptly braked and came to a complete stop." The other driver then exited his vehicle and walked towards the officer's vehicle: "You were tailgating me!"
