The three East Tennessee Cheer and Gymnastics teams that competed in the K-Town Showdown on Sept. 7 in Knoxville finished in first place. It was the squad's first meet of the season.

KINGSPORT — About 800 fourth-graders got up close and personal with animal skeletons and skins, live animals, bugs and recycling this week. The conservation camp at Warriors Path exposed students to conservation-themed presentations.

ROGERSVILLE — A “pound puppy” was so attached to the Corvette that carried her home, mechanics had to remove the passenger seat to get her out of the car. She was the last of the 68 animals rescued from deplorable conditions in April to be adopted.

KINGSPORT — The incident occurred at 1009 Rosetree Lane. Kingsport Fire Department Deputy Chief David Chase says a passerby spotted the fire and called 911 at 10:09 a.m.
