Throughout his childhood, James Christian's father worked as a sharecropper near Surgoinsville out of necessity, to make a living and feed the total of 18 children he raised. This year, James' life came full circle.

A Hawkins County man was charged with cruelty to animals Thursday morning after allegedly leaving a dog locked in his truck for approximately 12 hours while he drank alcohol all night with friends.
