The Tennessee Promise, funded with lottery reserve dollars, will provide two tuition-free years of community college or a college of applied technology (TCAT) to graduating high school seniors on a continuing basis.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said Wednesday that one of the greatest fears for any sheriff or chief of police is to lose an officer. Between January 2013 and May 2014 there have been 146 police officers killed in the line of duty in the United States.
