Dobyns-Bennett surpassed 2,000 students Friday, while Innovation Academy, a science, technology, engineering and math school, is still accepting students because it needs more students at all grade levels to reach its capacity of 240.

Around 1:30 p.m. Sunday the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a drowning at 247 Samuel Street which is located in the Bloomingdale section of Kingsport.

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — When a stray bullet pierced the top of Brendon Mackey’s head, the 7-year-old was on his way to a July Fourth fireworks celebration with his dad and other family members. He died the next day in a Richmond hospital.
