A 50-year-old mural in Bluff City recently underwent a face lift with the help of some local high school students, and members of the board of Mayor and Alderman gathered on Friday to show their appreciation.

DOSWELL, Va. — A University of Richmond women's basketball assistant coach and team staff member were the passengers aboard a hot air balloon that drifted into a power line, burst into flames and crashed in Virginia.

Three boat burglaries were reported at the Chelaque Way gated community Monday, and the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office was trying to make contact with two additional suspected victims who don't live full time in that community.

Although Venable won in all 25 precincts by a wide margin, his support was even more dramatic in the western end of the county, where he received no less than 75 percent of mayoral votes cast in any one precinct.
