Stacy Edwards soon will travel to the Dominican Republic to help finish a vocational school. And his students in Kingsport, as well as the other city elementary schools, are raising money to help.

Researchers are trying to crack the mystery surrounding the discovery of a weathered, rusted Winchester rifle in Great Basin National Park. The gun manufactured in 1882 was found leaning against a juniper tree during an archaeological survey.

Marcus Gergish was on trial this week in Jonesborough for first-degree felony murder and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery. The conviction on the lesser homicide charge allows Gergish to avoid a life prison sentence.
