With more people flying, more of them are also packing firearms and doing the wrong thing by trying to get them through airport security checkpoints. Four guns were confiscated last year at Tri-Cities Regional Airport, with two already taken this year.

For the first time, medical marijuana will be available in Tennessee after a bill allowing cannabis oil as an alternative medicine for seizure patients passed the Tennessee House and Senate with unanimous yes votes Monday night.

The chamber voted 90-3 on Monday to approve the measure sponsored by Republican Rep. John Holsclaw Jr. of Elizabethton. Under the bill, people with lifetime permits would still have to undergo background checks every five years.

On Friday a Hawkins County man returned to his home that burned a month ago and discovered that sometime after the fire occurred several items had been stolen, including the best parts of a sports memorabilia collection valued at $75,000.
