AEP tops record for summer power usage

KINGSPORT - Barry Bonds wasn't the only one breaking records on Tuesday. Thanks to soaring temperatures, electric customers in Kingsport and those along the Appalachian Power Co. service lines shattered an all-time summer peak demand.

TDOT reinspects Rotherwood bridge

KINGSPORT - The Tennessee Department of Transportation recently inspected five deck truss bridges similar in construction to the bridge that collapsed in Minneapolis last week. One such bridge was the Rotherwood Bridge on Netherland Inn Road.

ROGERSVILLE - A couple of Rogersville lads are learning at a young age that crime doesn't pay, as local police nabbed the boys ages 8 and 10 Sunday night after they allegedly broke into at least 12 vehicles in a local apartment complex parking lot.
