WISE — Yes, Virginia, there is a tax-free Santa Claus for the back-to-school crunch. Virginia’s annual sales tax holiday for school supplies and clothing began at 12:01 a.m. Friday and lasts through midnight Sunday.

KINGSPORT — Chinese classes and in-school medical care are last-minute additions to the offerings at Dobyns-Bennett High School for the 2013-14 school year. The city Board of Education approved contracts and agreements for both ventures Thursday night.
