RCS cafeteria prices increased slightly to help pay for 'healthy choices'

Cafeteria prices at Rogersville City School are going up slightly in 2014-15 to offset the cost of fresh fruit and other "healthy choices" that are now mandated under the federal Health and Hunger Free Kids act.

Superintendent Lyle Ailshie told the board that the "July final" BEP, or Basic Education Program, numbers from Tennessee came in Wednesday afternoon and were about $107,000 higher than the June estimate, which in turn was $68,000 over the May estimate.
