More lenient school lice policies bug some parents

Some schools in Tennessee and elsewhere now have policies that allow children with live bugs in their hair to return to class. Many nurses are no longer sending notes to other parents with kids in the classroom, alerting them to the possibility of lice.

KINGSPORT — The city school board Thursday voted 4-0 with one absent to withdraw from the joint agreement with the county to operate Innovation Academy of Northeast Tennessee, a STEM or science, technology, engineering and math school for grades 6-8.
