Reward offered in Scott, Lee woods arsons

Virginia Department of Forestry investigators said one or more arsonists lit a 244-acre wildfire in Scott County's Fairview Community last week and a 200-acre blaze that was located in the Blackwater area of Lee County.

Gary Joshua Garrison, 26, was given an active sentence of two years and eight months in prison by Lee County Circuit Court Judge Tammy McElyea. He was ordered to serve consecutive five-year sentences with three years and eight months suspended.

Paul Robert Perkins, Hickory N.C., was arrested for his alleged role in the Jan. 29 robbery at Dempsey's Jewelers, 3018 Peoples St. He was originally arrested in North Carolina and brought back to Johnson City Wednesday to face the charges.
