Juvies charged in B-day crime spree

A birthday party in Kingsport has led to criminal charges against nine juveniles, with police saying the revelers raided a nearby home to steal weapons and ammunition, along with inflicting $10,000 worth of damages with rampant vandalism.

A thief's hold on a vehicle lasted mere minutes on Wednesday, according to Kingsport police, as he obliged a woman's request for a ride by stealing a pickup, then drove it to where her boyfriend was being arrested one block away.

A suspect in Sunday's armed robbery of a Kingsport convenience store is now in custody, with police saying he panicked upon spotting an officer on routine patrol, mistakenly believed his arrest was imminent and jumped a fence to try and hide.
