Kingsport man allegedly shoots his way out of crashed vehicle

Police responding to an overturned pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon had to search for the driver, who allegedly shot his way out of the cab, pitched his gun and fled into the woods.

GATE CITY — Charlie Joe Ramey, 61, is now set to be sentenced in Scott County Circuit Court on Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. by 30th Circuit Court Judge John Kilgore. Ramey was convicted in March of felony murder, robbery and distribution of Schedule III drugs.
