Suspect in box cutter double slashing named in Hawkins sealed indictment

It took more than two hours for witnesses to call 911 following the double stabbing on the night of Feb. 1, and only after a woman attempted, and failed, to sew up a serious cut with a needle and thread.

In his attempt to get away, authorities say Brian Hawkins crossed the double yellow lines several different times, into oncoming traffic. Hawkins then pulled onto Lynn Road and allegedly refused to pull over for the officer.

Anthony Eugene Goad, 46, 2421 Clearview Dr., Johnson City, died outside his vehicle at Blakemore Circle and Mayfield Drive after police pursued him following the robbery at Val-U-Pharmacy on West Market Street.

KPD Detectives developed Ross as a suspect during the course of their investigation. They obtained a warrant for his arrest and since that time he was indicted by a grand jury for those charges.
