'Polar Bears' to invade Kingsport Aquatic Center for meet

The Kingsport Aquatic Center will host the Polar Bear Meet on Saturday and Sunday. The multistate swimming event will bring 250 youths, ages 5 to 18, from 10 swim clubs in Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department's Fit Steps Club will begin Monday, Feb. 3. The new exercise club will use the surroundings of the day as its gym and the location's resources as workout equipment.

Because of autism, Jakob Nicastro sometimes has meltdowns. A service dog would be trained to disrupt these behavior issues, and track him down if he gets out of the house without his parents knowing.
