Warriors Path Golf Course in Kingsport is aerifying its greens starting Monday and head professional Mark Houser came up with a perfect substitute: disc golf.

KINGSPORT - Sod is going down at Brickyard Park. As is the concrete. And, weather permitting of course, the four-field facility should be ready for ball come May, a city official said this week.

Parent volunteers helping upgrade playground areas for Shoemaker Head Start students

The playground upgrades were made possible through funds provided by Head Start's five-year federal grant. Besides the addition of some new equipment at the playground areas, the Head Start dads built a ramp that leads up to a bicycle storage building.

Ronnie Archuleta of Arden, N.C., won the Skelton Racing Series 10-mile event, held on March 28, in a time of 1:08.15. Brenna Roy, a 15-year-old from Jonesborough, was second to the finish in the grueling race with a 1:13.04.
