Following the July flood that inundated downtown Kingsport in two and three feet of water, Kingsport Ballet staff, volunteers, and hired hands went to work to extract, clean up, dry up and restore affected areas.

Our first movie theater was the original Strand, which was located on the corner of Main and Shelby (and later became the Gem Theater). It actually opened before this newspaper began publication so we don’t know what the first feature to play here was.
