Confederate Memorial Day is observed in some form in 14 states, including Pennsylvania. Known as Confederate Decoration Day in Tennessee and Confederate Hero Day in Texas it is a day set aside to honor those who died fighting for the Confederacy.

KINGSPORT — Veteran educator, former city school board member and author Barbara Goodlett died Thursday. Goodlett was an English teacher and later vice principal at Dobyns-Bennett. After retirement from the school system, she served on the BOE.
