KINGSPORT - George Washington School Apartments, which opened Nov. 15 at the corner of Sevier and Watauga streets near downtown's Church Circle, has units available for seniors 62 and older.

Kingsport discontinues efforts toward small-business loan pool

After working for more than two years to get a small-business loan pool up and running, the Kingsport Community Enhancement Corporation has decided to dissolve the organization and not move forward with the creation of the loan pool.

Kingsport Ryan's closes its doors

KINGSPORT - Ryan's Grill, Buffet and Bakery has closed in the Model City as part of its parent company's reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. However, the Bristol, Va., Johnson City and Greeneville locations remain open.

Eastman Chemical expects to double earnings per share by 2012

KINGSPORT - The company anticipates earnings per share to increase each year from 2008 to 2012. CEO Brian Ferguson projected Eastman's 2009 earnings to increase 10 percent to 15 percent from its 2008 results.

Eastman posts 3 percent rise in income
