Gladys V. Maples, NORTON, Va.

Gladys V. Maples, 90, died Monday (Nov. 3, 2008) at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap. She was the widow of Jessie W. aJoea Maples, was retired from the Norton Elementary School and was a member of the Guest River Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers; a sister; a daughter, Betty Maples Mullins; two grandchildren, Scotty Dingus and Dana Mullins. She is survived by a son Wayne Maples and his wife, Pat, Norton, Va.; daughters, Marcia Dingus and husband, Larry, Kingsport, and Kathie Scott, Norton, Va.; a brother, Ralph Wells, Pulaski, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Bolling, the Rev. Doug Scot and Curtis Dingus officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Laurel Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home, Norton, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
