Ralph G. Summey Sr., KINGSPORT

Ralph G. Summey, Sr., 66, of Kingsport, passed away suddenly on Sunday (Nov. 2, 2008) in Augusta County, Va., from injuries sustained in a tractor trailer truck accident and subsequent fire. He was born in Scott County, Va., (Ft. Blackmore) and had lived in Kingsport most of his life. Ralph served in the U.S. Army and was employed with Candyland Express Trucking Co. and was an over the road trucker. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. May Godas light shine upon your face and ease your soul. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brickey and Lottie Summey; four brothers, Troy, Charlie, George and Ted; a sister, Gladys Dockery; and a nephew, Shannon Summey. Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia Crawford Summey, of the home; his daughter, Vickie Nowlin and husband, Larry of Kingsport; two sons, Ralph Summey, Jr. and wife, Rove of Rogersville and Kenneth Cline of Surgoinsville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Thompson and husband, Harold; three brothers, Jerry Summey and wife, Judy of Kingsport, Claude Summey and wife, Janice of Kingsport and Brickey (Junior) Summey and wife, Anita of Scott County, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Carol Summey of Pennsylvania, Barbara and George Calhoun, Ann and Harold Gilliam and Bessie Quenberry; brother-in-law, Jim Langrel; two special nieces, Brittany Seymour and Brooke Calhoun; special neighbor, Sandra and daughter, Kim; and several other nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. Military graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. conducted by the VFW Post #3382 and the Tennessee National Guard.
