CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Thomas John Mahoney, 47, and wife, Elizabeth Paris, 49, died when their private plane crashed near Charlottesville, Va., Friday, October 24th. Tom was a 1978 Merit Scholar graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He attended Stetson University and received a masters degree in computer science from the University of Florida. He specialized in data management with several corporations as a consultant. He was currently employed by CACI of Charlottesville, Va. Since his marriage to Beth, the love of his life, they have proudly owned and operated the Flying Horse Farm, Orange, Va. An experienced licensed pilot, Tom loved flying his own airplane. Tom is survived by his father and s t e p - m o t h e r, John and Greta Mahoney of Kingsport; his mother, Constance Mahoney of Sebastopol, Calif.; sisters, Cathy Mahoney of Oakland, Calif., Jane Mahoney-Brownfield and husband, Mark of Oregon, Wis., and Mary Hall and husband, Maurice of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Don Mahoney and wife, Mojgan Vijeh of Moraga, Calif.; step-brother Mike Mooneyham of Kingsport; seven nephews and two nieces whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his grandparents; and a step-sister, Debbie Mooneyham. A joint memorial service for Beth and Tom will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, 2 p.m. at the Piedmont Episcopal Church, Madison, Va. The family will receive friends immediately afterwards at the church. Private interment will be held at a later date.
