Topic Write one thing you like and one thing you dislike about changing seasons.
Deadline November 6th, 2009
I like hunting turkey and deer. I do not like the cold mornings.
Tanner Collins, Kindergarten, Nickelsville Elementary, T. Ladd, Teacher
Fall and winter are fun because I get to play in the leaves and throw snowballs at mommy and make a snowman. I hate bees, so I don’t like spring and summer. But I do like to make a garden.
Makayla Vance, Kindergarten, Nickelsville Elementary, C. Baker, Teacher
I’m sad summer is gone but leaves are changing to orange, yellow, red and brown then spring to the ground.
Braeden Collette, 1st grade, Lincoln Elementary, C. Trapp, Teacher
One thing I like about the changing season is the leaves. One thing I dislike about the changing season is the cold air.
Faith Kestner, 1st grade, Miller Perry Elementary, R. Burdine, Teacher
I love the changing seasons because the leaves are so pretty. All the colors are red, yellow, orange and gold. But I don’t like it when it’s cold outside because I don’t get to play outside as much. That is the only thing I don’t like about fall.
Allison Presley, 2nd grade, Shoemaker Elementary, A. Mullins, Teacher
What I like about the changing seasons is that it is so beautiful during spring. The flowers are pretty. Spring is my favorite season. As they say, “April showers bring May flowers.” What I don’t like is winter. It is so cold. It is too cold for me.
Lauran Killen, 3rd grade, Rock Springs Elementary, M. Charlton, Teacher
I like the seasons changing because you can do different things during each season. In the summer, you can go to the beach and during winter, you can play in the snow. I dislike the seasons changing because you are more likely to get sick.
Dylan Austin, 3rd grade, Ft. Blackmore Primary, S. McMurray, Teacher
One thing I like about the seasons changing is looking at the pretty colored leaves when it turns fall. The trees lose their leaves and it is cool, but it is still fun. One thing I don’t like about it is when it is cold and you can’t go outside to play.
Emily Willard, 3rd grade, Rock Springs Elementary, G. Hillman, Teacher
The thing I like about the changing seasons is that when summer changes to winter we have snow! I love snow and I like to play in it, making humungous snow balls and snow men. The things I do not like about the changing seasons is that when winter changes to spring we have no snow. If we have no snow we can’t make snow balls or big snow men or pretty snow angels. But, boy, I bet you will make better ones next year!
Shane Ajan, 3rd grade, Mt. Carmel Elementary, J. Bledsoe, Teacher
Things I like about changing seasons are the leaves changing because they turn all different colors. The clock goes back so you can get one more hour of sleep! Things I dislike about the changing seasons are that it gets colder and wetter. In the summer and spring the clocks go forward again and no more one more hour of sleep. That’s what I dislike and like about the changing seasons.
Alyssa Vicars, 3rd grade, Miller Perry Elementary, S. Starnes, Teacher
I like the seasons! I like the seasons because sometimes it is warm. I like the seasons because you can go outside and play. I dislike the seasons because it is sometimes too cold to go outside. I dislike the seasons because sometimes it snows, hails, sleets, or rains.
Matthew Gobble, 3rd grade, Hilton Elementary, L. Musick, Teacher
One reason I do like them to change is because when winter changes to spring, it starts to warm up some. I also like it because you can go outside more than you can in the winter. The best part about the seasons changing to spring is that the birds come back and they start chirping songs. The reason why I don't like the seasons to change is because when summer changes to fall, we have to come back to school. I also don't like it because the time falls back. The worst thing when summer change to fall is that it gets much colder. That's what I like and dislike about the seasons changing.
Holton Carter, 4th grade, Duffield Primary, J .Taylor, Teacher
Here in Tennessee where I live the changing seasons are really obvious. First, fall is my favorite season because of basketball. What I don’t like is how cool it gets. Second, winter is not my favorite, but there is Christmas. Next, S\spring is when the flowers bloom and it gets pretty. It’s fantastic! The thing I like about spring is going back to the lake but I don’t like waking up to go to school. Last is summer. I like that we have summer break. What I don’t like is when summer goes to fall.
Hayden Hatcher, 4th grade, Rock Springs Elementary, L. Wicker, Teacher
One thing I like about changing seasons is that there is a variety of weather. My favorite season would be between summer and winter. One thing I don't like about changing seasons is when you have to go shopping for new clothes. My mom takes me to go look at pants for hours. There are a lot of ups and downs to changing seasons.
Luke Hartgrove, 5th grade, Yuma Elementary, J. Thomas, Teacher
Change! It’s always happening in our world, and the seasons are part of it. Let me tell you what I like about it. Each season kind of has its own special personality. Spring has its harsh, heavy rains. I hate it because you’re stuck inside watching boring old T.V. In the beautiful, hot, sweaty summer you’re out of the boring school. Also, there is swimming and tons of great sleepovers. Fall to me is the prettiest season of all. The magical leaves fall down and you see all kinds of different jack-o-lanterns hanging around. Winter has it’s ups and downs. The best thing is families getting closer because we’re always inside. When you do get to go outside there’s a big, white, beautiful sheet all over the ground. The down side is its so darn cold! I’ve told my opinion, tell me yours!
Diana Propst, 5th grade, Holston Elementary, P. Hubbard, Teacher
The things I like about the changing of the seasons are the beautiful pallet of colors the trees become around fall. In winter I love it when the snow is on the tiptop of the mountains and on the top of our houses. Spring brings life back to the outdoors with longer days and blooming flowers. Summer is exciting because school ends and swimming pools open. The things I dislike about the four seasons are when the allergies kick during the fall and spring time. Another thing I dislike is the extreme hot and cold temperatures that arrive in the summer and the winter seasons.
Lauran Meffe, 6th grade, Colonial Heights Middle, J. Hayworth, Teacher
I like the changing seasons because it turns to different weather so I can wear my other clothes. What I don’t like is that if I make a snowman, it melts down. I like it when it is warm outside with no falling leaves. I like to jump in the leaves and to play football in the leaves because they make you slip and slide a lot when you run. I also don’t like it when it is warm and then it changes and you can’t wear short sleeves without being cold and shivering. I like it when it is sunny in the fall because it gets windy and Halloween is coming. The winter comes and the best holiday of all, Christmas comes. Thanksgiving is also in fall and that is my favorite holiday. So season changing has good points and bad, but you always have a year to start the cycle all over.
Zack Byrns, 6th grade, Sevier Middle, L. Siegler, Teacher
I like and dislike a lot of things about the changing of are season. The two in my head are I like the beautiful snow and I hate when fall comes. I love snow because it is like a layer of beautiful scenery on the ground. And don't get me started about fall. I hate to rake. I think it is stupid. Why don't we just keep the leaves on the ground? It looks fascinating when you do!
Seth Jones, 7th grade, Fall Branch School, L. Summar, Teacher
I like most of the changing seasons. The one I like the best is fall because it is in between all the seasons. Like one day, it may snow in late fall, and another day it may be extremely hot, and the next, ice cold again. Fall is mostly windy and chilly, and I love it because of the beautiful fall colors. I also like winter, but not as much as fall, because it doesn’t snow much here in Tennessee. Also, winter is extremely cold. Christmas is in winter, so I guess that makes it ok. Summer is way too hot for me! Some people like it hot, but I like it a little windy. My favorite thing about summer is that school is out!! Also, the swimming pools are open. That is about all I like about summer.
Jasmine Armstead, 7th grade,Indian Trail Middle, L. Church, Teacher
