Corporal Dustin Jackson was shot twice at point blank range with a shotgun during the Nov. 9 standoff. Medical personnel removed more than 100 pellets from his arm, leg and in the aftermath of the standoff. “I was fighting to survive, to see my family again,” Jackson said of what was going through his mind at the time. “My survival instincts kicked in. I had a job to do, I knew the stakes and I just had to push through the fear.”
