If you ask Nicole Briggs about her leadership style as Executive Director of The Blake, she’ll quickly respond that she has a servant leader heart driven by her passion for seniors. Raised by an older mom, Nicole stepped out in faith a few years ago to leave her job as an insurance agent for a position in senior housing.
“I was petrified,” related Nicole. “People told me that I’d either love it or hate it and I immediately fell in love with my new profession.” In fact, Nicole says that her passion quickly turned into her new and satisfying profession.
“When we first met Nicole Briggs, we knew immediately that she was the right person to lead our team in Kingsport,” says Blake co-founder Glenn Barclay. “We look forward to helping her build and develop a team with the same infectious passion for serving seniors that Nicole exudes.”
Kellie Weaver also spent her professional years in the insurance sector. After 27 years, she recently became a part of Nicole’s team at The Blake as the Director of Sales.
“Someone asked me how I felt about my career change and I realized that I hadn’t really made a dramatic change at all; my passion is serving the community, addressing the needs and protecting the assets of my clients. My job at The Blake will involve working with a multi-generational clientele so I’m still busy finding the most fitting ways to fulfill my client’s needs.”
As a very active member of Kingsport’s Morning Rotary Club, Kellie takes the motto “service above self” to heart. “I’ve been given the opportunity to give back to the community with my position here at The Blake,” Kellie said, “and what we have to offer families in the Tri-Cities is simply amazing.”
Hired shortly after the groundbreaking, Nicole has watched The Blake come out of the ground into the impressive facility that it’s becoming. “We’re blessed in our area to have nice facilities for our seniors but it’s my true belief that The Blake will meet and exceed the needs of our families,” Nicole added.
The Blake is comparable in pricing to other senior housing options in the area but the list of amenities adds value to what families will be getting for their money. With concierge service, a 24-hour nursing staff, a piano lounge, coffee shop and an ice cream parlor, residents will experience an excellent quality of life. There will also be a salon, spa services, onsite therapy services, a chapel, custom putting greens, a fitness center and a theater room.
Families can visit The Blake’s sales office at 151 Wendover Drive to take a virtual tour to learn more about what to expect when the community opens this fall. Reservations are already being taken for Assisted Living and Memory Care at The Blake.
“As the needs of residents change from independent to more specialized care, we’ll have exactly what they need at The Blake,” Nicole shared. “This way, they’ll be familiar with their living environment and avoid having to make more dramatic changes.”
