As shown by some of these photos, the Surgoinsville Riverfront Festival drew a large crowd Saturday evening, Sept. 30, to hear music, eat free and purchased food and look at and buy wares of various vendors. Antique cars, trucks and tractors were on display earlier in the day, and local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts had a U.S. flag disposal ceremony earlier in the day. The annual two-day event, which started Friday with a parade, was rescheduled because of wet weather earlier in the month. It is held at Riverfront Park, near the banks of the Holston River. Folks at the festival Saturday evening said the crowd was by far the largest in recent years.
