August thunderstorms and sunshine have brought many new discoveries to Warriors Path State Park, including these new arrivals: Amanita mushrooms (toxic to humans, but good food for chipmunks, snails, and other critters); Eastern box turtles (who love wild mushrooms); a skipper soaking up sunshine and thistle; fence lizards, who sunbathe in the dry forest edges (the blue throat shows this one is a male).
