Today's Scrapbook Showcase continues our “America, the Beautiful" series highlighting national parks, historic landmarks and scenic destinations in the United States.
This week's showcase features lighthouse photos from an “island hopping” adventure down the East Coast. Over the Fourth of July holiday, Suzanne Manis and Vicki Falin embarked on a nine-day adventure that took them through five U.S. states to see seven lighthouses on 10 islands.
Their first stop was at Hilton Head, South Carolina, where they visited Harbourtown Lighthouse in Sea Pines Resort. The following day, they saw Cockspur Island Lighthouse on their way to Tybee Island Lighthouse in Georgia. They then hopped over to St. Simons Island Lighthouse before enjoying lunch on Jekyll Island. Though there is no lighthouse on Jekyll, they crossed a beautiful bridge to the island. Their next hop was to Amelia Island to view the Amelia Island Lighthouse, then on to Blount Island for an overnight stay before boarding Carnival Elation to Bahama Island! As they left port, they saw St. Johns River Lighthouse.
