Today's Community Scrapbook features photos of work along the Chief Benges Scout Trail on High Knob. The photos were submitted by The Clinch Coalition.
The Clinch Coalition (TCC), a non-profit national forest support organization in Southwest Virginia, received $30,000 from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation to repair and upgrade the Chief Benges Scout Trail on High Knob.
In addition to actual trail reconstruction and bridge and boardwalk repair, information kiosks and signs were erected. TCC members and supporters continue to do trail work on all Clinch District trails, including the popular Devil's Fork Trail above Fort Blackmore and the Little Stoney National Recreation Trail above Dungannon.
The Coalition also sponsors hikes and will once again lead a two-day hike from the High Knob Tower to the Hanging Rock Recreation Area on June 7-8. It will include camping over night at Bark Camp Lake, where dinner and breakfast will be provided. Anyone interested in joining the hike, for one or two days, or in helping with trail work, call 276-479-2176 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
