The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kingsport has provided opportunities for young boys and girls to play football for many years. For the past 14 years, the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport has provided financial support for the season-ending games – now called the Kiwanis Bowl.
The money is used to purchase trophies or plaques for each of the players, coaches and other volunteers that participate in the football program. This year, there were approximately 180 players, plus 50 adult volunteers taking part in the program.
Play takes place in three divisions – varsity, junior varsity and flag football.
This year's Kiwanis Bowl games were played Oct. 5 on the Dobyns-Bennett High School field at J. Fred Johnson Stadium.
