Wings Air Rescue EMS crewmember Brad Chenausky talks with Scott County Career and Technical student Alex Qualls Monday Sept. 9, 2013.
GATE CITY -- Members of the Wings Air Rescue EMS were at the Scott County Career and Technical Center Monday morning to help conduct a school-wide emergency evacuation drill and discuss their careers with students. The Wings Air Rescue squad -- which consists of a pilot, flight crew, flight nurses, paramedics and emergency care providers -- was invited to the school by SCCTC leadership students to put on the fire drill/evacuation demonstration as part of a weekly visit by local career professionals. Students were able to interact with the various Wings crew members and tour the rescue helicopter and other emergency equipment. In addition to providing emergency response education, SCCTC teachers said the event also illustrated how students can create goals and successfully obtain them. The event was conducted with cooperation from Scott County Public Schools, the Gate City Volunteer Fire Department and Community Fellowship Church.
