KINGSPORT - It's been a long time since Kingsport Speedway held a crowd as big as the one that came out Saturday night to witness the carnage of the Knights of Destruction Tour.
Among the highlights were tandem car racing (two cars chained together), school bus racing, boat trailer racing, jumps, flips, a demolition derby, a pickup turning laps on two wheels; and a "Road Warrior" no rules race which involved massive amounts of wrecking and unsportsmanlike behavior.
Among the most visually stunning events was a night race involving front wheel drive cars with metal skids bolted on for rear tires. Needless to say, the sparks were flying and the traction was limited.
None of Saturday's contestants felt constrained by the unwritten rules of sportsmanship. Beating and banging on each other was the order of the day.
Enjoy Charlie Columbo's highlight video which demonstrates just how crazy it got. The biggest winner Saturday night was the auto salvage yard.
