In spite of the threat of rain, parade goers lined Center Street in Kingsport for the Independence Day tradition in the Model City.
The 60th annual Mack Riddle American Legion Independence Day Parade Presented by Eastman Credit Union brought out thousands of spectators to celebrate the holiday.
Later in the day, the Blountville Ruritan Independence Day Parade made its way down the Great Stage Road in downtown Blountville, ending at the old Sullivan County Courthouse.
After the parade, the festivities moved to the Blountville Farmers Market behind the old Sullivan County Courthouse for grilled hot dogs,chips, slaw, baked beans, funnel cakes, Amish doughnuts, pony rides, produce and crafts.
