Stargazers enjoyed the biggest and brightest full moon of 2013 Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The "supermoon" appeared about 14 percent larger than normal early Sunday as its earthly orbit brought it the closest it will be to our planet in 2013.
The distance between the Moon and the Earth varies from around 221,456 miles to 252,711 miles at the extreme perigees and apogees.
Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday the moon came within approximately 222,000 miles of Earth, which was the best time to view.
