Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson presented roses to the family members of fallen deputies during Wednesday's Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Ceremony.
ROGERSVILLE - Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson hosted the 1st Annual Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Ceremony Wednesday morning at the Justice Center. The families of Hawkins County's fallen deputies were honored for their sacrifice during the ceremony. The ceremony also included a message from Lawson, a proclamation from County Mayor Melville Bailey, an invocation by Rev. Darius Horne, a 21 gun salute by the HCSO SAWT team, and playing of Taps by the Kingsport Police Department Honor Guard. Lawson and Lt. Chad Gillenwater presided over a rose ceremony honoring the families of Deputy Gerald Monroe Gibson, who was killed in action in 2000; Deputy John Wesley Wright, who was killed in action in 1988; and Deputy Drew Harrell, who was killed in action in 1937.
