Flanary and Barker
Stephanie Kristin Flanary of Gate City, Va., and Logan Joseph Barker of Kingsport, were married March 30, 2013, at BANQ. The Rev. Phillip McElhenny officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Felicia Flanary of Kingsport, and Don Flanary of Kingsport. She is the granddaughter of William and Charlotte Bellamy of Gate City, Va., and the late Blaine and Lucy Flanary, and the great-grandaughter of Myrtle Jones and the late William Jones.
The bridegroom is the son of Joe and Sandy Barker of Kingsport. He is the grandson of the late Earl Barker and the late Mary Yonce Feathers; Earl and Evelyn Feathers of Kingsport; and Hazel Barker Wicker and Tom Wicker of Kingsport.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father.
Summer Huffine, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Jody Barker, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Feathers, cousin of the bridegroom, and Rachel Dockery, cousin of the bride. Gift table was attended by Rebecca Feathers. Flower girls were Madison Dockery and Olivia Martin, cousins of the bride.
Shannon Elliott, best friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Joe Barker, father of the bridegroom, and Jim Barker and Andy Barker, both uncles of the bridegroom. Zaine Huffine, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Wedding coordinators were Diana France and Dez McConnell.
The bride graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. She is employed at Goodwill Industries and is a member of Kingsport First Assembly of God Church.
The bridegroom graduated from Tri-Cities Christian School and Tennessee Rehabilitation Center. He is employed at Toyota of Kingsport, and is a member of Kingsport First Assembly of God.
Following a wedding cruise to the Western Caribbean aboard Freedom of the Seas, the couple resides at Crown Colony, Kingsport.
Spivey 90th birthday
Doris France Spivey celebrated her 90th birthday with a party held May 25, 2013, at her home with friends and family. A special thanks to the family and friends who attended.
Doris was born May 31, 1923, in Scott County, Va., to Male and Roma McDavid France. She is the mother of Franklin (Betty) Spivey, Agnes (Bill) Good, Wayne (Kay) Spivey and Judy (Sherwin) Sumner. She is the grandmother of Sandy Smith, Michelle Jenkins, Nicole Bronaugh and Jason Spivey, and the great-grandmother of Brandy Coffman, Melanie, Mason, Miles and Meredith Jenkins, and Brett and Colter Bronaugh. She is the great-great-grandmother of Baleigh and Brynlee Coffman.
Doris retired from the Kingsport Press. She enjoys cooking, knitting, going to church, visiting with friends and family and watching western movies and sports on television. She is known for her willingness to help others, her warm smile and her kind words.
She is truly an inspiration to everyone whose lives she has touched. May God continue to bless our sweet mother.
Lambert 50th anniversary
Ralph and Susie (Byrd) Lambert of Church Hill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 5 p.m., June 22, 2013, in the activities building at First Baptist Church, Church Hill.
The event is being hosted by their children.
The couple was married June 29, 1963, in Carterton, Va., with the Rev. Johnny Kiser officiating.
They are the parents of Michael (Pam) Lambert of Kingsport, and Angela Sullivan of Church Hill.
They are the grandparents of Hunter Lambert, Houston Lambert and Tressa (Dustin) Lawson. They are the great-grandparents of Casey Hartsell and Darcy Lawson.
Ralph has been in the automotive business for 36 years. He is owner and operator of Lambert’s Auto Repair and Wrecker Service, Church Hill. Susie is a homemaker.
Jameson and Anderson
Emily Elizabeth Jameson of Cambridge, Mass., and Dennis Earl Anderson, also of Cambridge, plan to be married July 20, 2013 at The Estate at Moraine Farm in Beverly, Mass.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Liza Harmon of Kingsport, and the late Robert Jameson of Easley, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Kubelene Harmon of Kingsport, the late Roy Harmon Sr., and the late Jim and Lillian Brown. She is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and Wake Forest University, and received her doctorate in chemistry from the University of Michigan. She is employed as a senior scientist with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James and Darla Anderson of Johnson City. He is a graduate of Campion Academy in Loveland, Colo., and Texas A&M University, and received his doctorate in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech. He is employed as a research associate at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an instructor in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass.
Bishop 50th anniversary
Larry A. and Norma (Yates) Bishop of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., June 22, 2013. The reception will be held in the family center at Oak Drive Baptist Church, 1020 Oak Drive Circle, in the Lynn Garden area of Kingsport.
The event is being hosted by family and friends.
The couple was married July 6, 1963, in Gate City, Va.
They are the parents of Deana (Bishop) Collins and husband Greg of Blountville, and the grandparents of Meredith and Michael Collins.
Mr. Bishop retired from Eastman Chemical Co. in 1999 after 30 years of service. After his retirement he opened his own business, Graphix by Design. Mrs. Bishop worked at Mason Dixon, Pet Dairy and retired from First Kingsport Credit Union in 2012.
Mr. and Mrs. Bishop thank God for all his blessings. Among them are many dear friends. Please come and be part of this celebration.
