Harris 60th anniversary
The Rev. T Richard and Shirley Ann Starnes Harris of Kingsport will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Christmas at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Va., where they honeymooned in 1955.
The couple was married Aug. 19. 1955, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Kingsport.
Mr. Harris retired from Tennessee Eastman Co. and also pastored many area Baptist Churches, including New Bethel Baptist, Nickelsville, Va.; New Lebanon Baptist, Baileyton, Tenn.; Oak Grove Baptist, Kingsport; and many others. He has been an ordained Baptist pastor since Feb. 4, 1959.
Mrs. Harris retired from the cooking staff at John Sevier Middle School. She also worked in area retail stores and always supported the work of her husband in local churches.
Stidham and Bruner
Grace Elizabeth Stidham of Hiltons, Va., and William Cody Bruner of Yuma, Va., plan to be married at 4 p.m., Sept. 5, 2015, at Hiltons United Methodist Church.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Tim and Beverly Stidham of Hiltons, and the granddaughter of Shirley Gardner of Hiltons and the late Carlton Gardner, and the late Stewart and Georgia Stidham of Appalachia, Va. She graduated from Gate City High School in 2012 and will receive her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from King University in December 2015. She is employed at Eastman Credit Union.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Bill and Tina Bruner of Yuma, and the grandson of Fred and Sherry Bellamy of Yuma, and the late Charles and Laura Bruner of Yuma. He graduated from Gate City High School in 2010 and received an Electro-Mechanical degree from Mountain Empire Community College. He is employed at Eastman Chemical Co.
Daugherty 50th anniversary
Edwin “Ed” Lee Daugherty Jr. and Betty Cassell Daugherty of Kingsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 15, 2015, with a dinner held in their honor at Chop House.
The event was hosted by family and friends.
The couple was married Aug. 15, 1965, at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, Bristol, Va., with the Rev. Calvin Bailey officiating.
They are the parents of Anita (Richard) Vickers and Renee (David) Sewell, both of Kingsport. They are the grandparents of Carter Vickers, Eden Vickers and Cam Sewell.
Mr. Daugherty retired from Sullivan County Schools and Virginia Highlands Community College. Mrs. Daugherty is a retired homemaker.
Abbett 50th anniversary
Gailen “Butch” and Margie Pauline Ketron Abbett of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 16, 2015.
The couple was married Aug. 16, 1965, at Central Baptist Church, Mock Knob Road, Abingdon, Va., with the Rev. Blaine Eggers officiating.
They are the parents of Teresa Abbett Cowden and husband Alan of Fall Branch; Jeffery Abbett and wife Jane of Lynchburg, Va.; Philip Abbett and wife Susan of Boves, France; and Anna Abbett McEver and husband John of Aztec, N.M. They are the grandparents of John-Marc Abbett, Chloe Abbett, Nathan Cowden, Claire Abbett, Jeremy Cowden, Juliana Abbett, Benjamin McEver, Emily Abbett, Timothy Abbett, Michelle McEver, Joshua Abbett and Samantha McEver.
Mr. Abbett has been employed as a Baptist missionary since 1969, with 37 years of church work in France. He is still active stateside. Mrs. Abbett is a missionary, wife and mother.
Reed 50th anniversary
Lloyd and Judy (Buttram) Reed of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21, 2015.
The couple met while attending Lenoir City High School and later married in 1965. Prior to retirement, Lloyd was in sales with Vulcan Materials and Judy was a Registered Nurse at Asbury at Baysmont. They will celebrate their anniversary traveling.
They are the parents of daughter Lisa Reed and son Brad Reed (Sara). They have two grandchildren, Bowen Reed and Ansley Reed.
Their lives have been filled with the love of family and friends.
