Williams 95th birthday
Margie Carter Williams will celebrate her 95th birthday with a reception to be held in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Nov. 29, 2014, in the fellowship building at State Line Baptist Church.
The event is being hosted by her children and granddaughters.
Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Rye Cove, Va. She was married to Arthur Fay Williams for 61 years before his death in November 2008.
She is the mother of Jenny Frady and husband Gary of Church Hill, and Joel Williams and wife Kristy of Kingsport.
She is the grandmother of Candace Skelton and husband Jason; Brooke Robinette and husband Kevin; Erin Thomas and husband Devin; and Hilary Nowatzki. She is the great-grandmother of Mia Ryan Skelton, Macie Claire Skelton, Edward Curtis Robinette and Jenna Elizabeth Thomas.
Margie is one of the survivors of the 1929 cyclone that destroyed Rye Cove School and took several lives. Her older brother James and her teacher were among those killed. She was badly injured but survived to later become the valedictorian of her senior class.
She was employed at Eastman Chemical Co. for four years during World War II.
She attends State Line Baptist Church with her son and daughter-in-law.

Tate 95th birthday
Rella Tate recently celebrated her 95th birthday with her family at Mama's House Restaurant.
Mrs. Tate was born Nov. 19, 1919, to William and Lillie Vermillion Shell. She married Grover Tate on Nov. 16, 1935. They were married for 56 years at his passing.
Mrs. Tate has four children: Phyllis Tate Wallin and husband Ralph; Linda Tate Sturm and husband Brent; Gerald Tate and wife Pat; and Cathy Tate Holland and husband Dennis.
She has 12 grandchildren: Wesley Wallin and wife Sheila; Barbara Wallin Johnson; Wendy Wallin Brito and husband Candido; Travis Sturm and wife Donna; Michael Wallin and wife Danielle; Lance Sturm and wife Mary; Sherri Tate Thacker and husband Daniel; Jennifer Tate Dawson and husband Lance; Todd Sturm; Lori Holland; Dennis Holland; and Rhonda Sturm Farr and husband Jason.
She has 32 great-grandchildren: Ken Wallin and wife Rose, Briegan Johnson Davidson and husband Eric, Jessie Sturm, Brett Johnson, Nikki Repass, Meagan Sturm, Savannah Repass, Abby Johnson, Zach Dawson, Zoe Monaham, Brent Sturm, Nicole Sturm, Trey Repass, Maggie Sturm, Aurora Repass, Madi Sturm, Ben Johnson, Kylie Repass, Jackson Farr, Joshua Wallin, Keena Dawson, Jarom Farr, Cierra Holland, Madilyn Wallin, Brigg Farr, Ariana Wallin-Brito, Zane Dawson, Katie Wallin, Pearce Farr, Sara Wallin, Noah Wallin and Wesley Farr.
Mrs. Tate has always been a loving wife, mother and granny Tate to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoys reading, crossword puzzles and her flowers.
Burton 60th anniversary
Millard Andrew Jackson Burton and Erma Lee (Goins) Burton of Kingsport celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 6, 2014, with family.
The couple was married Nov. 6, 1954, in Gate City, Va.
They are the parents of Rodney (Kathy) Burton of Kingsport and Johnny (Melissa) Burton of Kingsport. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burton retired from accounting at Holston Defense. Mrs. Burton retired from customer service at Sears.
Caldwell 50th anniversary
Charles and Kay Tunnell Caldwell will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at the Holston Electric Building, 1200 W. Main St., Rogersville.
They are the proud parents of David and Robin.
