Dudney and Goodwin
Laura Frances Dudney and Adam Stewart Goodwin, both formerly of Kingsport, are engaged to be married June 13, 2015, at The Venue, Asheville, N.C.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bill and Janyce Dudney of Kingsport and the granddaughter of Jack and Jeannette Ralston of Kingsport, Susan Dudney of Kingsport and the late Earl Dudney. She is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, Appalachian State University and the University of Tennessee School Of Law. She is employed as a project manager for Teach for America and currently resides in Houston, Texas.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Connie Sparks of Kingsport, and Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Goodwin of Kingsport. He is the grandson of Lillian Lusk of Mullens, W.Va., the late Troy Lusk, and the late Luther and Annie Magdalene Goodwin. He is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and the University of Tennessee. He is employed by The Clubs of Kingwood, and resides in Houston.
Swann and Bedford
Brittany Lanier Swann of Wilmington, N.C., and Samuel Paul Bedford of Kingsport plan to be married at 4:30 p.m., May 16, 2015, at Rand-Bryan House in Garner, N.C.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carey Meredith Swann III of Wilmington, N.C., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carey Meredith Swann Jr. of Kinston, N.C., Mrs. Betty Kilpatrick of Kinston and the late Mr. James Lewis Kilpatrick Jr. She graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, and received a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. She is employed as a fifth grade teacher at North Ridge Elementary School in Raleigh, N.C.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Paul Bedford of Kingsport, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robley Paul Bedford of Kingsport and the late Mr. Bernard and Mrs. Bernice Aderholdt. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and received a degree in Business from East Tennessee State University. He is employed in computer software sales with Avalara.
Tolly 83rd birthday
Marvin “T” Tolly will celebrate his 83rd birthday with a reception to be held in his honor from 3 to 5 p.m., March 15, 2015, at the Bloomingdale Ruritan Building.
The event is being hosted by family and friends.
He is the father of Dottie Beard and husband Fred, Sheryl Begley and husband Richard, and Marvin Tolly. He has seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Jones 90th birthday
Marie Jones will celebrate her 90th birthday on March 10, 2015.
She is the loving mother of six children: Shirley, Frankie, Cathy, Evelyn, Brenda and her last, the only boy, Larry.
God bless and take care of a great mother, a mother who has never seen a stranger and is kind to all people she meets along the way. She loved walking the Green Belt for a long time.
Dudney and Richard
Heather Marie Richard, formerly of Fayetteville, Ga., and John William Dudney, formerly of Kingsport, were married Sept. 20, 2014, at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel, Tybee Island, Ga. The Rev. Brian Taylor officiated at the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Julie and Al Lunceford of Fayetteville, Ga., and Ken Richard and Judy Johnson of Richmond Hill, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Connie Rayburn of Riverdale, Ga., the late Thomas Rayburn, and Warren and Reba Richard of Springfield, Va.
The bridegroom is the son of Bill and Janyce Dudney of Kingsport, and the grandson of Jack and Jeannette Ralston of Kingsport, Susan Dudney of Kingsport and the late Earl Dudney.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore an elegant strapless gown made entirely of ivory embroidered lace. It featured a sweetheart neckline, chapel-length train and beaded belt. Her full-length tulle veil was edged with a wide band of delicate ivory lace.
Jennifer Childers of Williston, Tenn., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rachel Dudney, sister of the bridegroom, of Lexington, Ky.; Shreeda Sheth of Elmhurst, N.Y.; Amy Odom of Flowery Branch, Ga.; Catherine Benson of Columbia, S.C.; and Loren Avrett also of Columbia.
Flower girls were Anne Marie, Eleanor and Charlotte Adams, all nieces of the bridegroom, of Atlanta, Ga.
Brooke Adams of Atlanta, and Laura Dudney of Houston, Texas, both sisters of the bridegroom, read scripture and poetry during the ceremony.
Bill Dudney served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Adam Kilgore, cousin of the bridegroom, of Memphis, Tenn.; Andy Adams, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, of Atlanta; Thomas Richard, brother of the bride, of Atlanta; Erik Bowman of Omaha, Neb.; and Drew Ernst of Washington, D.C.
Ring bearers were Alex Vickrey and Gavin Kranich, nephews of the bride, of Decatur, Ga.
The bride graduated from Augusta State University in 2009 and received her Master’s of Medical Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2012. She is employed as a physician’s assistant at Fast Track Urgent Care.
The bridegroom graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2005 and from the University of Tennessee in 2009. He is employed as an operations manager for Amazon.
Following a wedding trip to St. Maarten, the couple resides in Tampa, Fla.
