Maden and Moon engagement
John and Connie Maden of Kingsport, Tenn., along with Ann V. and Paul Lautermilch of Lynchburg, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Megan Nichole Maden to John Allen Moon III. John is the son of the late John Allen Moon Jr.Megan and John plan to be married on May 1, 2010 at Maple Lane Farms.Megan is the granddaughter of Bob and Ila Miller of Kingsport, and the late Bill and Blanche Maden. In 2004, she graduated from Sullivan South High School, where she was very active in the Rebel Marching Band, serving as drum major her senior year. She attended Northeast State Community College and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. She is employed with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.John is the grandson of the late John A. and Shirley G. Moon, and the late Fred L. and Jo H. Vandergriff, and Paul A. and Dorothy M. Lautermilch of Clarksville, Va. In 1998, he graduated from E.C. Glass High School, Lynchburg, Va. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, with tours of duty in the Middle East and Okinawa, Japan. He attended East Tennessee State University and is employed with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
Mowdy 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde (Betty McMurray) Mowdy of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 26, 2010.To celebrate, their daughter, son-in-law and grandson have planned a week-long trip to Pigeon Forge.The couple was married April 26, 1960, in Hiltons, Va., with the Rev. C.J. Flanary officiating.They are the parents of Melinda Mowdy Sublett and her husband Andy Sublett of Kingsport. They are the grandparents of Zachary Sublett of Kingsport.Mr. Mowdy was employed by J.P. Stevens for 13 years and then was a self-employed contractor for 20 years before retiring. Mrs. Mowdy retired from Ingles after 28 years.
James Arnott 96th birthday
James Arnott of Surgoinsville, recently celebrated his 96th birthday at Asbury Place at Steadman Hill, Kingsport.Family members present included Gregory and Becky Arnott of Kingsport; Danny Arnott of Clayton, N.C., and Michael and Betty Arnott of Asheville, N.C.Cake and ice cream were served, and Mr. Arnott enjoyed the company of family.For many years Mr. Arnott was a community leader in Surgoinsville, having served as may or and alderman of the city and a commissioner of the Surgoinsville Utility District.

Wolfe of Gate City, the late Rufus Wolfe Jr., Ola B. Rogers of Gate City, and the late George "Dottie" Rogers. Jasmine, a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Tennessee College of Law, is employed as an attorney with the law firm of Childs & Halligan, P.A., Columbia, S.C.The bridegroom-to-be is the grandson of the late Comer and Iona Drain, and the late James and Willie Pearl Schley. Marcus is a graduate of Auburn University and the Kennesaw State Uni versity Coles College of Business. He is employed as a staff engineer with Shaw Industries Inc., Dalton, Ga.The couple will unite in holy matrimony in an open-church ceremony Aug. 7, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Kingsport.
Musick and Golden engagement
Lindsey Lee Musick of Weber City, Va., and Criss Robert Golden of Chattanooga, Tenn., plan to be married at 1:30 p.m., July 5, 2010, at Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church.The bride-elect is the daughter of Lynn and Kathy Musick of Weber City, and the granddaughter of Lucille Carrico, the late Paul Carrico, Mary Musick and the late H.L. Musick. In May 2009, she graduated from King College, where she was a member of the volleyball team. She is employed as a teacher at Hilton Elementary School, and is a member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Robert Golden of Harris burg, N.C., and the late Nancy Golden. He is the grandson of Franklin and Charlsie Bradford of East Ridge, Tenn., and Dean and Mary Ellen Golden of New Cumberland, W.Va. In May 2008, he graduated from King College, where he was a member of the soccer team and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is employed by Aflac.
